Ventilation Characteristics and Performance Evaluation of Different Window-Opening Forms in a Typical Office Room

As most existing office buildings in China lack fresh air systems for ventilation, natural ventilation with windows remains the main means of improving indoor quality and adjusting thermal comfort. However, knowledge characteristics various window-opening forms actual is limited current methods evaluating performance a comprehensive consideration rate In this study, different were systematically compared by conducting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. A full-scale experiment was conducted typical room university Tianjin to validate CFD simulation. Two modes (wind-driven cross-ventilation temperature-driven single-sided ventilation), three angles, seven window types investigated. Additionally, ratio absolute value sensation used quantify natural-ventilation performance. The results showed that sliding full opening has highest discharge coefficients 0.68 0.52 under wind-driven respectively, top-hung both inwards outwards have better than other two modes. This study applicable design practice ventilation.
